For this special summer ballet intensive with Asela Eatenson. Originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico, Asela began traveling throughout the United States at age eight to receive ballet training at the most prestigious schools in the country. She has studied at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet under Marcia Dale Weary, Houston Ballet under Stanton Welch and Shelly Powers, the Kirov Academy of Ballet under Martin Freedman, the International City School of Ballet under Georne Aucoin, the American Ballet Theatre under Franco De Vita, the Bolshoi Academy, and the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet. At fifteen she decided to focus on her academic career while remaining passionate about dance and, in particular, teaching young dancers and adults correct technique and injury-prevention skills. She has taught private lessons for the past four years and co-founded CCBMA and served as the studio's first ballet teacher. Her background is in the Vaganova (Russian) method of dance, and she is also well versed in the Cecchetti (Italian) and RAD (Great Britain) methodologies and the Balanchine style. She currently attends Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City. She dances with the Columbia University Ballet Ensemble and serves on their board as a repetiteur.
